FOR THE BOLD & THE MUSICAL

For nearly two hundred years, people have fallen in love with Franz Schubert’s Ave Maria. It’s been done in classical form, gospel, jazz, Latin, German … and now it’s your turn.

Give us your Ave Maria. Make it traditional, soulful, techno, or totally original. Sing it or play it, English, Latin or German, just do it from the heart. And submit it by August 15, 2004.

We’ll feature several versions at a time on this website. So send your friends, family, and co-workers to hear the real you. One weekly winner will receive a free Sleeping with Schubert CD, courtesy of Sony Classical Music. The final winner will receive a gift Sony Classical’s 10 greatest Schubert CDs.

You may submit your masterpiece here. Only .mp3 files will be accepted and they must be under 2Mb in size. Limit your rendition to perhaps the first verse or two.

With your entry, please don’t forget to include your name, hometown, e-mail address (which will not show on the site), and any biographical information, credits, or other details that should go with your music. Keep it short. We reserve the right to edit.

The inevitable disclaimer: There will be no compensation for your music other than your vast personal satisfaction. Also, your music will be accessible to everyone; there’s no copyright protection, but there is the joy of finally having your talents heard by millions. We’d love to feature every submission at sometime, though it may not be possible. For instance, exceedingly vulgar, nasty versions may not be suitable, or we could get thousands of submissions (not likely!) and it may be logistically impossible.
